Transforming Legal Education at Allens
After more than 10 years of legal practice and eight years in legal knowledge management — spanning precedent development, legal technology, document automation, and legal skills training — I stepped into a leadership role at Allens in 2016 that combined my passion with my expertise.
Over the next eight years as Head of Legal Education, I built and led a high-performing national team that designed and delivered a comprehensive Legal Education Framework from the ground up.
This framework:
Aligned firmwide learning with practice group priorities, firm strategy, and current and future learning needs
Created a user-friendly learning hub and calendar
Streamlined national CPD compliance
Drove collaboration across knowledge, business development, innovation, legal tech, and project management
Adopted an agile approach, ensuring learning evolved with changing lawyer needs and the broader legal landscape
Using detailed learning analytics and modern design, we developed five bespoke learning programs and delivered 100+ training sessions annually. Lawyers and leaders consistently described the programs as “excellent, engaging, practical, and highly relevant.”
The result: Allens shifted from fragmented training to scalable, measurable, level-based education — equipping graduates and lawyers with tailored pathways aligned to career stages, business needs, and the firm’s strategic goals.
